It started in the classroom. During her days as a teacher, Jessalyn Aaland struggled with the limited resources of her classroom. It evolved into the Class Set poster project which brings great contemporary art by Bay Area artists and transformational social justice quotes to students where they spend their time every day. To make this happen, Class Set provides the colorful posters to K-12 teachers for free, and to everyone else as free digital downloads.

In another classroom, here at CCSF, Kate Connell, former Exhibits Librarian and San Francisco artist, posed a similar challenge to the student-designers at CCSF’s Emerge Studio. Each poster consists of the inspirational words of an author or artist which is brought to life in vivid color.

Explore these works on the 3rd Floor Atrium round case, Room 518, and the 4th Floor Reference Desk.
